Ashirbad Anusthan 2021:

On 10th December, 2021, for the first time in the history of Assam Prisons, an "Ashirbad Anusthan" has been organised in Jails of Assam of the State. It is a reformatory step meant to encourage convicts' children preparing for the ensuring HSLC/High Madrassa and CBSE 10th final examinations. The main objective of the programme was to organise a get-together of the examinees with their convict parents and seek their blessings for the upcoming examinations.The "Ashirbad Anusthan" organised in Central Jail, Guwahati under the guidance of Assam Prison Headquarters was attended by Shri Niraj Verma, Principal Secretary, Home and Political Department, Government of Assam as Chief Guest. He delivered a valuable and inspiring speech wherein he spoke words of encouragement for the students present. Smti. Barnali Sharma, Inspector General of Prisons, Assam in her welcome speech, informed the audience present regarding the objective of the programme. She also offered her best wishes to the exam bound students. The students who were present on the occasion, were each gifted a kit containing a dictionary, school bag, pen, pencil and other articles. All the senior Prison officials and parents blessed the examinees for their ensuring exams and appreciated the noble initiative taken by the Assam Prison Headquarters and thanked the Inspector General of Prisons for her reformatory step. The students got ecstatic upon getting the opportunity to meet and seek the blessings of their convict parents in the jail in such a unique manner. The convict parents also thanked the prison authorities for the great initiative, adding that such programmes would boost the morale of people serving jail terms.
